Be prepared for the worst

I know some of you guys live pretty remote, hopefully you're prepared with some of the extreme temperatures and snow, most of you have barns and secondary living areas.

This fella burned his house burned down, no way to communicate or travel, managed to make it 20 days until help arrived.

As long as we have cell service and my phone does not burn down I'll be ok. If the power goes off I'd have to work a little harder to get an engine started out in the -30s temps. Forget about the diesels, not a chance. Two gas trucks might be persuaded. :)

its -40 here again tonight. furnace running pretty steady in this old shack.be no warmer weather till next tues. actually furnace did go out yesterday. had no power to furnace. needs new breaker. so unhooked the leads at furnace and hooked an extension cord to a wall out let and away she went working good so far. get a breaker tomorrow . got cows tank full of water today kept the fire going out there. now just getting ready to go feed the baby calf her milk for the night. then she can hide in the straw till morning feeding. tomorrow going to pick up 1 ton of coal. now that stupid carbon tax is on also , so will be almost double the price. was 50.00 a ton now probably be 90.00 a ton.
