Gotta problem that has me stumped! Case 2290 diesel tractor has a block heater that keeps shorting out, kicks breaker out all the time, so decided to remove it . Problem is , I can t figure out how to remove it. If anyone here has a suggestion , I am open to ideas. It doesn t look like it screws in ,but I could be wrong. I will try to post a picture of it! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

back that small bolt head out, the back of that unit is a rubber plug that is tighten to expand by
that small bolt.

jm is correct. the small center bolt wedges the heater in place. If the bolt just
spins Cut the nut off and pry the heater unit out of the block. It is likely rusted in
place and some force will be needed to remove it. Once out, take some emery paper and
clean up the bore before installing new heater.-----------------------Loren

It is a friction fit There is a flat fender washer on the inside that just squeezes the rubber bushing, expanding it against the bore of the hole.------------Loren

Take the center nut off. Then try pulling it out. As others have said it should pop out.Rust may be stopping it from coming out.I have had some where I have had to drill. A large hole in the center and break them up. Be careful with the block. Not much room to work with

Okay, yes I remember that. I might have to drill it out though, seems
to be really sucked in there!!

Had one that was stuck in the block and I got a right
angle drill drilled in the bolt hole and it popped the
heater out

Once you get the bolt loose or out you can stick a
punch in the center and work it back and forth and
it?ll pop out . The one I was working on was in a
sick.5 turbo twossle and it was pretty hard to get to
this one shouldn?t be to bad

I agree with this and similar posts

changed dozens of them always just back out the bolt and use a pry bar on the edge of the htr agaisnt the block and pop them out,, 10 min job other than draining the coolant

Update on this: after drilling, punching, rotating,it finally came
out! Thanks for all the respondents, couldn?t have done it without
help!!
