If you were in the market for a loader tractor in the market of $10,000 or below what would you buy and why?

Thanks.
I'm looking for a loader tractor and haven't ruled out something other then the MM's I'm accustomed to and love!

You probably are to far away and it is probably to big for you but I know of an IH 175B tracker loader one can buy for under $10k. It is here in Missouri and come in at around 38,000lbs and almost nothing gets in its way

Case 830 diesel case-O-matic. Torque converter drive is what all the big loaders use, heavy enough to do most work even without front assist. Fuel efficient and lots of power. The biggest shortcoming is the power steering is not the greatest, but if you install a 70 series hydraulic pump and plumb the steering into it it is pretty good. And you can get a nice one with loader for 5-6,000.00. That is if you can get someone to sell one, most that have one say it will be the last tractor to leave so they are a little hard to find.

Didn't mean that to sound snippy, but around me you wouldn't get a good running 4020 power shift with a loader for 10k.

How big of a tractor are you looking for? I really like the 4wd(mfwd) for a loader tractor. Under 10k would get you a good 2wd loader tractor but if you want mfwd you will be limited to smaller tractors.

Do you want a loader only tractor or do you have other requirements for tasks it needs to perform? If you want a straight loader tractor you should be looking at ones like Case, Ford, John Deere, industrial tractor built for loader work. There is a difference between An industrial loader tractor and an AG tractor with a loader.

It has a loader, but it's an old NI with a trip bucket. It's an early 4020, w/straight metal and duals. I think it's worth $10,000, but can't seem to get a bite on it here.

I vote for a Case Loader Tractor Backhoe. I Found a 480E Case Backhoe for $5000. It is just 2 wheel drive. But has a Cummins bullet proof engine. Directional reverser and a torque convertor. Plus a 14 ft backhoe. Will lift the backend of a 4020. Will out load any farm tractor. Also Diesel pump easiest to turn up. A no brainer. Lol.

Buy an Industrial model that was built to be a loader tractor and not a farm tractor that had a loader added as an afterthought.
A Ford 545 is one of the former and a good one can be had in your price range.

A basic rule that applies to many many machines is that "That is too big for the hobby guy and too old for the full time operation" You can put the economics of that rule to work for you. A good example of this is the Case 1370. It is large for a chore tractor, but if you can make it work, its size would make it work with two wheel drive compared to a 4wd tractor half its size. The 1370 has a good rep as a tough tractor and so many were sold that the availability is good. You would have to perform due diligence to try to reduce liklihood of problems, and as with any tractor under 10,000 there is always the chance of expensive breakdowns and difficulty in finding parts.

I have 3 loader tractors that run and operate fine, Oliver 1365,Oliver 1550 and an AC 185 all diesels.Have about 1/2 of your $10,000 in all 3 combined.Just have to look around some for good buys.Saw an Oliver 1365 (55 HP) with a good loader sell last Fall for $2900 looked good, ran good.

i would buy a backhoe

I bought a good running 4000 for 6700 this year I put a new knee on the wide front for another 200 ..then bought a nice 148 loader 8 foot bucket with joystick for 2500.

Ihave an M with an F 11 Farmhand. Lifts a ton of weight, and goes higher than just about anything out there. An IH hydro makes a fine loader tractor. I have one of those too.

Good point. The hobby guy will find a big tractor can
do a lot of damage to yard. One time I hired a guy to
do yard work with his bobcat. The bodcat did a lot
damage to lawn.
