Year End Video

Ok, here is the only time I need to use classic view as it makes a clickable link with the actual title that I want. This is just a brief review of some of the things I recorded this year. It was a memorable harvest but not in a good way. All tough wheat and only feed grade. No oats due to hail. Canola was dry and ok but these 1990s prices are having a hard time covering the cost of inputs.

(quoted from post at 19:01:19 12/29/19) Well done video of a long hard year. Hope 2020 brings better fortune your way.
Thanks. It was not a bad year up until harvest and weather turned against us. I have never seen so much crop left in the fields in nearly fifty years of farming. Dryers are still working here and there will be plenty of combines rolling next spring when the snow melts.

We must have it a lot easier relative to drying grain here. In a
good year a lot of the corn dries pretty far down in the field.
We did run the grain drier ( in the bin ) quite a bit this year.
Problems here getting dry haying weather are not unusual. I
admire your tenacity up North there. Plenty cold enough for
me here. You sure have some great scenery though. And
moose in the backyard. I presume you have always lived there
?

Actually it is rare to need a grain dryer here. I've managed to harvest my grain dry most years when the weather co-operates. This harvest and really the summer was just too cool and cloudy. A lot of canola crops just did not ripen. They were finally swathed in desperation but still the seed remained too green to safely harvest. So the swaths will lay in the fields for the winter and I don't know what condition it will be by spring. Luckily I got all mine done dry. Just that one field of standing wheat left.
Yes, been here all my life and its the only place I'd want to live.
