464 IH Crankshaft

Bought a 464 IH knowing it had a cracked crank bought a replacement crank had been magnafluxed turned .010 numbers on the replacement crank IH 72 32956R3 installed it torqued it to 105ft.Lbs could not turn it with a crowbar loosened cap bolts turned ok meanwhile machined shop had the old crank i talked with them about repairing it it was a small crack it the back rod journal repaired it placed it in the block torqued it to 105ft.Lbs spun like it was supposed to the numbers on the orginial crank are
IH 76 3132956 just wondering if anyone has a micro fish that could check the numbers on the replacement crank to make sure it is for a 464D 179 engine.

I think your prefix numbers (72 and 76) are date codes, or whatever and MEANINGLESS to what's going on here.

Also, you are missing a digit in the first part number you posted.

A crankshaft cross reference I found lists the following crankshaft numbers as interchangeable: 3055045R2, 3059510R1, 313295632, 3132956R, 3132956R3.

You say you are working with a machine shop, why not have them evaluate the mystery crank, checking exact journal sizes, and to be sure it's ground concentric and is not bent?

You can usually view the official FIAT parts website on-line at the link below to see what part numbers are shown in the official parts catalog, unfortunately, it seems to be down for maintenance at the moment.

Plasticguage is cheap. Also easy to have one bearing in crooked. Did you turn crank every time you tightened one main. Or rod. Are they all to big. Or just one.
