WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE YEAR OF MY 8N TRACTOR BUT i CAN NOT FIND THE SERIAL NUMBER THE DISTRIBUTOR IS A FRONT MOUNT...WOULD THIS BE A 1949??? OR EARLIER

If it's an 8N (not a 9N or 2N) and it has a front mount engine, it's a 48, 49 or early 1950.

FWIW: The SN should be stamped into a machined flat surface on the left side of the cylinder head.

Thanks I did not check the head I just checked the side of the engine block and could not find the number I thought all the 1950 8N had side mount distributors I will check tomorrow on the head for the serial #

It may be hard to see, but it should be hand stamped here.

Side mount distributors came out in April or May of 1950 and ran till 1952. Front mount 8Ns came out in 1948 and went till that April or may date
