Get 'em started early on those mowers. We moved to our present place when #2 son was about 11- pretty big lawn, he looked it over, and said "Dad, if you'll get a self-propelled mower, I'll be in charge of the lawn." Best deal I'd heard of all week, so down to Sears we went and came home with one. He was true to his word- I don't remember ever mowing it until he moved off to college. After a couple of mowings, I declared the self propelled to be worn out, and got a rider.

Funny how that works, ain't it?

I mowed an acre+ of lawn with a 20" push mower from the time I was big enough to push it to the time I left for boot camp.

Came home on my first leave during "A" school and Dad was riding around on a brand new Cub Cadet...
