Flipped a little poo

It may be a little crazy but I enjoy spreading manure.Providing everything goes well.(no brake down and such).I really like the cool crisp air and spreading on snow. You can really see where your spreading.

I think that in a short time the do gooder crowd will have us stopped putting manure out in the winter, but not yet. I prefer to spread on a field when I can work it in right away. But this year hasn?t been good for getting things done, and I have had to put some manure out, and more will go out between Christmas and New Years.

Yes restrictions on spreading on frozen ground are already in place for some materials, I believe. Has to do with spring thaw and runoff. Quick incorporation is indeed the best plan, reduces the Oder and increases the nitrogen in the seedbed. gobble

It?s pretty much that way here now,?courteous? practice is to work it in within 24 hours. Spreading on frozen ground usually results in nitrate runoff.

I always enjoyed spreading manure, and challenged myself to plan it all out in a way that I could keep both me and my tractor clean, and snow helped that effort. It was especially enjoyable this time of year on the last load after dark with snow flying and Christmas carols playing on the radio.

I remember being in about fourth grade at a one room school and watching every morning about ten o'clock, the
nearby farmer would go past from his dairy barn to another farm down the road. He was driving his case SC with a
spreader full, and I thought someday I will do just that very thing, it seemed a worthy goal. Well it never
happened but I have had a few opportunities to pull our McCormick 4A spreader with my John Deere A after cleaning
up after my son's oxen, nearly as good until the apron chain broke...
