Last year you were explaining to me about my JD 401B load shaft seal leak, and how to replace the seal. I didn't do anything about it then, and don't need any more oil on my trailer deck. It's time to make a repair. I have the lift arms off. The shaft is tight in the case bushing. Can I just replace the O ring seal, and be good to go? There was some talk about an after market seal, of which I remember nothing. Any thoughts? Stan

I'm not SV but IMHO Boling machine 660 669 3717 makes a better seal and if I remember it is cheaper. The first of my 3020s that I fixed I put in deere seals. In about 6 months I had leaks again. Then I put in Boiling seals I think it was 3 years ago. It still don't leak. When I did my other 3020 the shaft was worn. I got the shaft from Boiling . 2 years later still no leaks. That's all I plan to use.

Did the neighbors 3010 last winter. New seals looked a lot different. Had a lot more give in them. We put in new shaft and bushings. Think it was a kit. Packages said JD. Was really eas y. Had a little rod that went through hole in wheel. And would peck bushings and seals out. There were 3 of us, think had new seals and shaft out and in about 15 minutes.
