I was working next to the st Mary parish maintenance unit yesterday.i saw quite a few probably 7 or 8 of these machines parked/junked.one of the workers said they broke down constantly and just didn?t last.is this common with jd tractors these days? They are used with jd batwing mowers of which 7-8 of those were junked

My fathers last tractor was a Mannheim, and I don't recall any problems with it. We bought a new JD 4600 in 2001, and it' probably the best tractor I've ever seen, but it has a Yanmar engine, a 12-12 power-reverser transmission. The 6300 was only produced 1992- 1997, maybe they're just worn out? And maybe the operators don't take very good care of them!

Neighbors have one, mfwd with cab and loader, and it seems to have been a very dependable tractor. I know there was an issue with the hydraulics once, but other than that, 5000+ hrs of regular use.

Sounds like the tractors were used in a mowing service.....that is about as harsh on equipment as it gets. I knew a gentleman that had a state highway mowing contract & he replaced tractors and mowers every 2 yrs. & they were worn out! Said, you would not believe what the operators could tear up.

I've had a 6400 and a 6415. Most of their lives spent with loader work. They work hard, down and dirty. They have given no problems whatsoever. Couldn't ask for better service. I would take one of them over my father-in-law's Kubota any day.

Well a 6300 could be 24 years old and no newer than than 20 so on jobs like they cold easily have over 20,000 hours on or more . Bought a John Deere 8400 In 2001 that had 9000 hours on it and it was a 1995.
