Was out today meeting a customer about a deck project. I took a wrong turn and saw an Allis Chalmers 303 baler at the edge of a lawn, sorta grown up around, nice house in a sub division. Looks like it's been there a while. No one was home......dang it! What's it worth? Any good? Like I really need another baler.......

neighbor had one called it the rebaler we baled the hay so many times it looked like it was chopped would tie 1 out of 10 used it for about a day bought a Massey 12 that never missed killed us on the wagon

If it is one of those roto balers I had one for 1 summer and could not get rid of it fast enough. While it can be pulled behind your B it is pain in the back sides baler and the small round bales are hard to handle or stack

Rich,

There were tons of AC balers in MO, my grandfather had all orange, after retiring from JD up and moving south.

Never did figure out why all orange.

Yes I know there where tons of A/C stuff here. Last auction I was at the had one of those Roto balers they could mt get an opening bid of $25 for it and it look like it had been kept in a barn most of its life. I've only live here in MO for 39 years now so yes I know what is around here

I had a 303 for one season- it was not one of AC's finest products. Low capacity, lightly built, tended to miss a lot of ties.

We had a AC baler and did not had any trouble with it. In 1 field I ran 235 bales a hour through it.

Some are confused that the 303 is he famous Roto-Baler. When I worked for Allis Chalmers dealer, we also had the New Holland so we sold few Allis Chalmers square balers, fact I only remember one. They were disliked by the shop foreman, but that may not be important as he did not like me either. I never heard any praises or complaints about them, It seems that they got into the square baler market after farmers had found balers they were pleased with

I had a 303 for awhile it was OK,baled hay etc.Biggest thing now no is parts supply, also had an AC 444 that was much improved baler over the 303 but parts NLA for it also. Now use an Oliver 62-T it bales excellent but parts for it are scarce too.I don't bale many squares anymore so if it breaks down no big deal I just use one of the round balers to finish up.

Growing up the neighboring dairy farmer used nothing but Allis Chalmers farm equipment except for his baler. It was a New Holland.
