farmall model f cub gears clashing/grinding

Over the past year I have experienced increased clashing/grinding when I go into any of the 4 gears on my Farmall model f. I have adjusted the clutch pedal with no improvement. Any ideas on what else I might try?
Also, does anyone know of a tractor mechanic in the Massachusetts western Worcester County area?

The Super C I bought recently was grinding and it turns out one of the fingers on the pressure plate is broke.

That could be one of a number of problems.
#1 the throw out bearing is going bad/wore out.
#2 pilot bearing is going bad or biding up on the input shaft.
#3 pressure plate is going bad or has bent or broken or worn fingers
#4 clutch disk is coming apart so bunching up and not letting the pressure plate to release

If you hold the clutch down, put it in gear...

Is it hard to get out of gear?

If while holding the clutch down, go into gear, then go to neutral, still holding the clutch down, then back into gear, does it grind?

If yes, the clutch is not fully releasing, the pilot bearing is dragging or seized, or there is a problem with the clutch itself.

If no, the clutch is releasing as it should.

A couple things that can cause gear grinding is shifting with the engine idling too fast or trying to shift with the engine up to speed.

Another cause can be low oil in the transmission. The oil acts as a damper to slow the spinning gears once the clutch is released.

Dick what town are you in I'm in northwest Worcester County myself and have two cubs. Had to change my
Loboy clutch because of gear gnashing splitting the tractor is not hard there are mobile stands that can be
made easily enough. I have two that i made it it made the job go very well. The clutch if needed is not that
expensive around $100

Hi Chuck,
I live in New Braintree, MA, next to Barre.
I don't have the experience to open the tractor up. I did it once
25 years ago with a local mechanic taking the lead. Could I pay
you to look at the tractor, diagnose the problem, and if you feel comfortable, doing the repair?

Dick i would like to help but physically I'm no longer able do that work on my own. So if you would like some
guidance on doing it I could help with that but Im not a tractor mechanic just a person like you who owns a
tractor and has learned to repair it by doing. If can turn a wrench and use a screw driver you can split the Cub.
Do you have a service manual? the instructions are spelled in that. If don't check out farmallcubdotcom the
have a how bunch of manuals on line that you can view.

Could be a simple as running synthetic fluid that is thinner and allows the input shaft to freewheel easier.. where it grinds the first time but not the second time when done guickly.

That is the situation. When I go into say 1st, it grinds until gears slow down enough for it to pop in. I release the clutch and move forward. If I throw in the clutch and go into another gear quickly, it will go in without grinding. However, if I pause before going into that next gear, it will grind.
