Well here are some pictures of my Grand father's TO-30. I could just about cry when I see how rusty it is compared to when he owned it. It never was wet when he owned it. IF he let it set under the shade tree in the day light he covered the hood with an old sheet to keep the sap off it. It will be back to shiny again. Wonder what the head lights are off of?? They are still shiny/chrome. The originals would have been just painted if I remember correctly.

P.S. I also found the original cultivator to it as well. I went over and had a "little talk" with my cousin. HE fessed up to where he had sold it. I went an found it and traded the spring shank one plus some green backs for it. I will have to take one of the boys with me to get it as it is in the back of the fellow's barn. He and I could not carry it out. Two old farts do not equal much work anymore.

Cool tractor I have a 1949 TO-20 and they are very nice tractor when they are restored and rebuild. Mine I just got the original 6 volt positive ground delco system rebuilt. Here in michigan it was a high of 20 today and I started her up and pulled some logs up to the house and cut them up for firewood. They are very handy tractors I hope you are planning on to restore it! I am planning to restore mine someday.

It actually doesn't look as rusty as I figured it would sitting outside as long as it did. I'm sure you'll have it looking like new in no time.

It?s very nice you were able to find your grandfathers tractor JD, I know you guys will have her running and looking like brand new in no time!

i wouldn't cry to much, it looks good and straight, that surface rust can be taken care of in short order,..nice that you found it.

You couldn't carry the cultivator out? This the same guy that lifted the 350 pound gearbox onto the sprayer last year? Just funnin. Nice to get that tractor back. Enjoy fixing it.

Glad to hear you got it home and got the original cultivator. I am sure you will enjoy getting it back in shape and enjoying the memories that will come to you as you work on it. Thank you for the pictures. You got me to thinking about my grandfather and his tractor.

You are correct, the headlights were painted, and still can be bought, but pretty expensive.
Hopefully it didn't set out with the exhaust pipe straight up in the air before the new owner got it.
With a bunch of work it will look nice. I think they're a slick little rig when they're done. I think mine was worse than yours. It's a TO-20. (The bumper looks familiar.)
