Cub 7232 Starting Issue

I accidentally stalked my cub on Sunday. While at idle I set the brake with the clutch pushed in but still in gear. Before I could take it out of gear to turn it off my foot slipped off the clutch. The tractor lunged a bit and shut off due to the brake prohibiting forward travel. Now I can t get it to start. When I turn the key, I get dash lights, but the starter doesn t engage. The transmission shifts easily in/out of neutral and all the gears. I tried pushing the tractor a few feet to see if the transmission was on a bind and no luck.

Any ideas?

Thank-you!

Starter doesn't engage as in does noting or spins up and does not turn the engine over?? If it does not turn over then es check ALL battery cable connection. If the starter spins up then could be a bendex problem or ring gear problem

After checking/cleaning all 4 battery cable connections then check to see if neutral start switch is making connections with trans in
''N'' or with clutch pedal depressed which ever type of safety device is applicable to your tractor

Do the starters stick on them like the bigger Farmall's? Can you turn the engine over using the fan? If not, put it in high gear and rock it back and forth using a rear tire. Good luck, and let us know the outcome.

I do not know that tractor but I will go a different way about trying to get it to run. First you said the brakes were on and that caused it to stall, now you say you cannot push it so the brake is still on and likely locked up. Get it running and put in reverse and try backing up and brake will probably release. Now you probably were on it setting in the seat when you killed it. And most tractors of that style have a safty interlock on to keep yoy from starting from the ground. So I am guessing that now you are trying to start it either standing beside it or when it jerked and stoped it pulled the wire of the seat safty switch. If that safty switch does not work all the other electrical items you say are working will still work with that seat switch unhooked . But with it unhooked it will not let power to starter so no crank over. So first thing is get on that seat and try to start it, if that does not do it then find that switch under the seat and follow that wire looking for a bad connection there.

Thank-you for the information. I won t be able to get back to fixing the tractor for a few days but will update progress.

Thank-you!
