Salvation Army

Last year was the first year I rang the bell for the Salvation Army and the Wife asked if I was going to do it again this year--said will wait to see if the "boss" calls me and wants me or not. He called the week before Thanksgiving and just got home from my sixth "gig" tonight--Fun! I am the only one of the volunteers that sings to the people and they must like it for the $ count--He did not tell me how much--set the one day best since he has been involved this last Wednesday--He was all smiles and gave me a "fist bump" I can't carry a tune in a bushel basket but the passage about making a joyful noise unto the Lord must work--Lots of smiles. The little kids are the best--Their parents give them money to put in the kettle and I ask everyone of them if they have been good--They all say YES--I give them a candy cane and they are all smiles! I bought the local Dollar General out of candy canes! If any of you have a opportunity to do this please do---Tee

Two of my favorite girls--My Granddaughter and Daughter in-law! They and Son came to get groceries at Fareway.....

When my 2 oldest girls were little they loved putting money in the bucket now they are both ringing the bell this year. My youngest (3) loved to put money now so I have to remember to have cash when we go to rural king.

The same thing but just a tad to the side. When I was a kid my sister me and mom went to NYC and I just couldn't wrap my head around how Santa was on every corner with a bell and the kettle. How did he do it?

I mailed a check to the Salvation Army this morning.

While I was in the military, it was my observation that the Salvation Army did more for the troops than any other organization, Red Cross included.

Thanks for ringing!

They seem to be one of the most efficient charity's around. Very low administration costs. Seems like I read they run about 10% which is super efficient. The head man, don't think they call him a ceo, draws a whopping 13k/yr.

I ring for the Salvation Army as a Lion, wearing my Lions vest. I pick up the kettle and stand from our local volunteer. I like the work of the salvation Army and am willing to support it with my efforts, but It is not an Army, I already served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, and It does not assure salvation, Only Jesus gives salvation. Still I continue to ring.

Our red kettle campaign is run by the Ministerial Alliance. The volunteers are doing a great job, but I have noticed that they are very quiet. They always give a thank you to a donation, and are ringing the hand bells, but we used to HO HO HO or sing or do something to draw attention to ourselves.

They are a good organization to give to. They pay some bell ringers don't they? I love to hear that bell ringing around Christmas time!

Maybe with all the ?politically correct? stuff going on today they have to be more subdued.
Merry Christmas
Jim

They way I heard it is if you are some homeless bum they pay you but if you worked all your life they want you to volunteer for free.
