Here goes:just got a new 2019 Silverado 2500hd cab and chassis in at work. Boss bought a new flat bed for me to install. It has 6 led turn/tail lights in back, 4 down low and2 up on the headache rack. Of course it hyper flashes on turn. So I put two resistors - one each on both low lights on the one side I?m trying- still hyper! I add one more resistor to the upper light. Still hyper! I replace all three lights with old incandescent s I had on shelf. Still hyper! So, I have all 3 lights resisted which should slow them down and now bulbs which should never be fast. So what gives? Any Chevy lights guys out there

I think I would call the dealer, just to let them know what's going on before something lets the smoke out.

Any chance you are connecting the bed to the trailer connection?

If you put everything back, do the original bulbs lite up? If even one bulb is dead then the flasher goes hyper. Check all of the bulbs front rear and side lamps. Next stop is dealer. I talked to a guy who does that all of the time with dump boxes and utility bodys on bare frames they get. We kinda talked about those problems. They measure current flow used by the bulbs. Very much dought you can just change a flasher. Maybe a complete module but it sure will not cost six bucks.

You know, I thought about the trailer connector thing. The funny thing is there are four open plugs at the back where . The oem taillights could?ve been plugged in. There?s a round multipin that plugged into the 7way. And the four butted off wires looped up and tied by the factory with identification on it that I used. The flat bed dealer said there is no plug and play connector for the 19. That ended with the 18 model year. Perhaps I?m into a trailer lead and need to plug into one of those open ?outlets?.

So the bed is intended to fit on a 2019 Chevy? Given that the 2019s have been on the road for over a year, it seems doubtful that you're the first customer with this problem. I'd give the manufacturer a call; I'll bet they have a solution to your problem.

Talk to your dealer. If this was a chassis/cab truck with no box originally the lamp detection should be disabled from the factory. It is a setting that can be changed by the dealer.

ake a look at IATN.net and find your problem. I have been a member for many years, it is a good tool to have. Sometimes it jar the brain just to read other responses.

When I installed a flatbed on my '08 GMC the turn signals flashed hyper & local mechanic split lights between the truck & trailer wiring harnesses already on truck & lights flashed normal speed. I don't have LED lights but has 3 turn lights on each side

They were just talking about this on the private GM technician forums the other day. It is a known problem that GM has no fix for. The repair is more complicated than putting resistors in. One guy was working on building modules to trick the light detection circuit. He had called technical assistance and was told there is no programming to defeat the light detection on 19 and up models at this time. GM has completely forgotten that trucks are built to work. GM is just focused on the bro-dozer crowd.
