Ford Industrial Tractor model information

I have recently purchased a tractor that says it is a 340 industrial tractor. I have spent hours looking for the information on this tractor and noticed that you have answered other questions on this. Can you help me as well?

The stamp on the frame behind the starter on tractor says 9LO 6B and then under that it says C629185X can you please let me know the year, date and any other information you can give me. I need to purchase a service manual for this tractor so I can check out a few tings that may need repaired.

Look again at the flat spot behind the starter, there will be one more row of numbers just above the "9L0"
should start with "CU" and four more letters and numbers, most likely if it's a 340 it will be CU3??? lots of times they were stamped a bit high and were not in the flat area.Also may still be a tag under the hood with this info.

the provided serial number is a late 1979, and that date code is a November 06,1979 second shift production date

C629185 is the serial number for a tractor built in 1979

Build date 9L06B
9 = year = 1979
L = month = November
06 = date = 6th day of the month
B = shift = day
Your tractor was built Nov 06, 1979 on day shift

There is a 3rd roll of numbers in the same area, possibly in the rougher area behind the ones you found.
They will be the model numbers that decodes the tractor model, engine type, pto and transmission type.

Example of a 340 model number
CU414C
CU4 = 340 model
1 = diesel engine
4 = 540 independent pto
C = 8x2 manual trans

Find yours and we'll decode it

Correction: CU3 is for a 340, the CU4 I listed is for a 340A

I will have to go back down there tomorrow and clean the spot where thoes numbers are at. I noticed in my picture that there were additional numbers up higher. Thanks for your replies!

Raise the hood and look for the foil data tag on the underside of the hood above the battery.
It has that info as well.

OK, I went out to look at the tractor and the full plate under
the hood is painted over. I believe the additional numbers
that were stamped on the block are CU214C The third digit
had a big chunk of paint on it and I believe it was a two. So
can someone please confirm with me the information on this
tractor?

CU2 = 335 industrial, I don't think this is correct (reason below)
1 = diesel engine
4 = Ind 540 pto
C = 8x2 manual trans

335 is a utility version of the 3600 ag tractor, these tractors have "live pto" with 2 stage clutch.
The 4 in the model code is for a model with "independent pto" that operates independent of the tractors single stage clutch.
Also my list shows the 335's production ended after 1978 while this tractor was clearly built in Nov 79.
For this reason I believe the 2 is actually a 3 making it CU314C.
This makes it a 79 model 340 with diesel engine, ind 540 pto and 8x2 manual trans.
The 340 ind is a utility version of the 4600SU ag tractor, a very handy tractor to have.
