I didn't see a problem in my post

I posted about California strict regulations on diesel truck emissions yesterday. I guess someone turned it into a negative post somehow. I thought it was interesting because I know there are a few truckers here. I also mentioned tractors will be next. It finally stopped raining. This storm is the first of the season. It dumped a good amount of rain in southern California. Now I will go over to the barn, and see how the tarps held up over my tractors. Stan

I did not see anything to make it go poof but I do know it was starting to get on the negative side of how things are going in CA and bit on the political side of things

There is already some emission reduction requirements on newer off road equipment. Has been going on for several years now tier one through the present tier four. I would take it would be much harder to enforce strict emissions standards on older off road equipment such as farm equipment or construction equipment as they are basically unregulated at the state level compared to trucks. (No inspection or registration in most cases). Maybe some day the older off road equipment used on government job sites may have to meet some sort of emissions requirements like the older trucks on State jobs now have to in New York. I sure hope they leave the smaller operations alone as the big farmers and big construction companies that would account for most of the off road fuel use tend to run newer equipment that already has been equipped to meet the appropriate emissions tiers . Of course how much of the emissions stuff remains after the factory warranty is over? As far as your other post I responded to it and I didn?t notice anything about it at that time that was out of line. Maybe as Old said someone picked on California too much ?(not you or me)

Stan,
I found it informative.
We all could learn something if we knew why posts go poof.
I'm always wondering when mine go poof if there was something I did or did my post go sideways, like they often do.
Also would like to know if YT members are warned before they are expelled or suspended.

Stan,

I didn't see your post... but there are always a few who can turn a post sideways in a heartbeat (AND they seem to like it).

I swear that some could turn a Happy Birthday post sideways.

I just try to refrain from posting or replying in ways that go against the house rules... cuz it ain't my house and I am just a guest here.

George,

Nope - No warning that I am aware of. Don't ask me how I know. LOL!

OK, I'll fess-up...Uhmmm, in a former life...
I got in trouble ONCE for arguing with somebody...
could not post nor reply for a short period of time.

But once was enough and I learned my lesson...
I are not a genius - but I are not no dummy either. :)

Old saying, everything is politics and
politics is everything.

So mention a new law you are stepping on
a fine gray line of politics. POOF.

Freedom of speech does not apply in a private setting. The property owner, site owner or moderator has the freedom to control what is said. It applies to all of us.

RLP this post you just made is the reason good posts get poofed. Did you do this on purpose to stir the pot or don t you get it?

Ah but sometime it is hard to bite your tongue so to speak. Like when person have been asked not to answer a post due that person trying to cause problems

The anti-California bias is disappointing. Cal. has a high percentage of the population and a very high percentage of the USA tax base. It might be of value for those that love to bash California, to go spend a bit of time there. But finding honest, hard working, patriotic Americans in
California might have an impact on their preconceived Midwest notions. But I would not want anyone to get out of their comfort zone.

I've been playing in various internet forums since the mid 90's and honestly the moderators of this site let a lot of stuff slide IMO. I think they do a good job of keeping things down to dull roar while letting people speak their minds.

What I learned from the article on diesel truck smog issues is: our 69 Volvo FE7 with 63k original miles is now worthless. It's in a non operating status with the Ca. DMV, since my brother sold his cattle 12 years ago. It can't leave the state since it's not smog compliant, and can't be licensed. The only way it can leave is, it has hauled out of Ca. Should have sold it when someone offered 5 k for it. Live and learn. Now in a few years it will be my kids problem. Stan

I've never been there and from things I see on the news and from others that I know lived there I sure do not want to go there. Yes it has and is one of the highest population area but is that really a good thing and how about some places where one can step on a dirty needle. Etc.

A girl I grew up neighbors to moved to San Diego with her husband who was a career service man. They live a few blocks from the border and they like it there. To each bis own I guess.

For native oregonians who can remember the days before the California invasion, we typically dont have warm fuzzy feelings for California.

It's not that bad if you stay away from the big city slums. It has to do where you were brought up I guess. While in the Navy I was in a couple states I don't to ever see again. Will not mention for fear of up setting others. Stan

I ve been there a few times, on vacation, visiting some relatives that live there, and a couple of times on business. I always had a good time. It is hard to get your head around how big it is economically, and how much money is out there. Economically, it s larger than all but a few countries, and with 39 million people, is easily the biggest state population wise.

Back home in the late 80 s, I was visiting family, and noticed a new sub being built. At least a 1000 homes at over $500k each. And my cousin didn t think it was unusual at all. Going into a intersection, and seeing what looked like 4 huge malls, one on each corner. There is probably more retail in LA, than in the whole of Michigan. I looked at some farms there also, simply huge, and very busy. First time I ever saw a really big dairy farm, I was told it had 1500 cows. That was in 1980. It wouldn t be really big anywhere now.

I too was in the Navy and was stationed on the east coast. I was in Groton CT and Charleston NC and Norfolk VA. While I would not want to be in any of those places now it was not all that bad when i was there. But that was also almost 40 years ago. Shoot when i moved to where I am now I had a hard time getting us to the sounds of being in the middle of no where. Nearest neighbor by road is a mile and by foot a 1/4 mile up a mountain. And that nearest neighbor is my 95 year old mother. I own firearms that where you are would not be legal but are here in MO and bullets you cannot have either

Exactly. There's a lot of pre-conceived notions about CA that a visit there would quickly dispel. But most folks don't like to experience cognitive dissonance.

"Like when person have been asked not to answer a post due that person trying to cause problems"

I hear you.
I wish the powers on YT have a place where we could block the people who are trying to cause us problems.

alifornia is the only state I have stood in 117 heat and was able to look up at a snow caped mountain.

that is a bit of misleading statement in that it would only make sense that california is the highest contributor to the federal government since they are the most populace state, fed tax rate does not change from state to state, only the state rates change, so to fall back on the idea that they are paying the most is only because of the population. Also based on a January 2019 report, california did in fact receive more federal tax dollars than they paid in, this report stated that Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Illinois, New Hampshire, Washington state, Nebraska and Colorado, in order of the top ten, this report was non partisan. but we wouldnt want to preconceive now would we?

(quoted from post at 20:30:35 11/21/19) Government vehicles are exempt from emissions standards.

What????
What sort of "government vehicle" are you referring to?
Military?

Kinda of outdated, but I can remember when catalytic converters came out, and the Air Force flight line vehicles had a epa waver to remove them as they could or would set off fumes near refueling operations, but that was in the early 70s and only for flight line vehicles.. So yes I guess you can say the military can have vehicles that have epa waviers...

Look around Leroy ....They?re probably not too thrilled about Stepping in cow crap. Nor, driving 15 miles to buy a six pack and a frozen, but over cooked Pizza at Casey?s .
