In the last couple of months we have replaced two tractor starters. In both cases the new starters seem to turn over at least double the RPMs of the old starters when they were new. Seems nice to finally have starters that actually turn over fast enough to start motors with a lot of hours and lower compression easily.

Fast starters wear less because they start engines faster. Best of luck with them, may they serve well. Jim

Remember many years ago. The original starter had fields in it. Was a slow Turner. Bought the new style with permanent magnets. WOW what a difference. There are supposed to be new starters made with Neonibnium rare earth magnets. They are going to be really interesting! Might be about the size of a soup can.

My 300u has always cranked slow, ever since I was a kid-but it always has started right up.Still 6 volt and original starter.Since I have had it for the last 25yrs,I've put maybe 3 batteries in it.Last spring I replaced the battery(6v),and for some reason it cranks better than I can remember. Just a plain Jane Deka battery.Anyway it sure is nice to have it crank better and faster-it's always in the back of your mind,' it's barely cranking over-will it start?' even tho it always did!
