Another Hot water heater

Just as it bugs "young fella old" to see the terminology "hot water heater, I am bugged by some things that have changed in the english language since I was young just because more and more people say it that way. We could not even read or speak the English of the 1300s. So here is a question: Is it imperatative to have superlatative preventative maintenance?

I don't know if its IMPERATIVE or not but from experience I can tell you preventive maintenance really really helps and can extend the life of equipment.

FWIW for yearssssssss Ive heard the terms WATER HEATER as well as HOT WATER HEATER to describe an appliance I have in my home and NEITHER is right or wrong its a matter of personal preference and choice TO EACH THEIR OWN period....call it whatever you like and let others do the same....

All my faucets are marked Hot and Cold.
So, I have both a Hot water heater and cold water heater(geo thermal).

Hot water heaters are only used in the hot water circuit. Who would ever install one in the cold water circuit?

And since they sell all types of heaters, I would ONLY buy a HOT WATER heater to install in my home to heat water for my hot water circuit. I would not install a hair dryer, grain heater or space heater for that purpose.

Every language has different dialects and terminology.
Take Cajun French; Canadian French; and France French.
It is all French but has been separated for hundreds of years.
So it has evolved in different directions.

Then you have how people speak.
Take southern and northern USA English.

I for one find it interesting hearing and learning different dialects.
It educates me.

On the other hand you have some that think their way of word use is the only correct way.
They will try to correct anyone that speaks or uses words differently than they do.
They may even get mad if you try to explain to them this is a big world and not everyone speaks the same way.

I think the point is, there is a "correct" way to say it, and how each of us says it, so what if it does not match.

We should be able to poke a little fun at each other and not take it so serious, it is a sign of affection.

how about "Hot water creator" or would that offend someone. and a Dr. Pepper is not a coke but called that, at least in the old
days.

Nothing has changed that I know of. One is term right and one is wrong. The hot water is already has already been heated by the water heater. If you had two water heaters in series the second would be a hot water heater. To me it is not criminal enough offense to correct anyone unless you feel like aggravating them.

When my younger sister moved to Texas about 35 years ago and had made a comment at work about losing her pop. Some one asked how old he was. She was puzzled by the question until she understood the use of the word coke in Texas.

Neighbor at church this morning...was hoping the frozen ground would "unthaw", so tillage could be done. Very common around here. Maybe I should put some water from the hot water heater on it...
