Our Latest Video - Changes Are Coming

(quoted from post at 21:30:47 11/15/19) Our latest video... :)
Changes Are Coming...

Besides promoting your youtube video views (in blatant violation of the rules of this website) it would be interesting if you would simply explain to us non-youtube gurus just what the heck you mean by "changes are coming". IMHO.

Can you point me to that rule?

Try not to get bent - I'm having a little little fun sharing the videos, just like others who do the same.

More than once the owners of this site have explained why they do not like the posting of self-promoting youtube videos having to do with how GOOGLE ranks this site.

I'm sorry, it was not in my place to bring that up, please forgive me.

But I'd still enjoy hearing an explanation of what you mean by "changes are coming".

I know Youtube is making some changes, it's just not clear if that's what you mean, or if you are showing us some "changes are coming" in your farming operation.

Maybe he hit a gopher mound and has to change some sickle
blades. Maybe that mound had rocks in it and has to change
some sickle blades and guards. Maybe he ran a stick from the
tree line into the belt and has to change out the belt.
All I know is it?s tractor related which is what ?Talk? was
designed for and not the quarter of the drivel that ends up
here.

?That grass hasn't grown any since the last time you showed us that video.-----Loren?

That?s a video we made several years ago, but first time posting it.

As far as growth, yield is much different now. Same field, different spot. Pic is from this year...

Nice setup Bill, looks like the Massey is working good.As you know it's tough to beat Krone hay equipment. My next disc mower conditioner is going to be either a 9 foot Krone or Deere.Nice crop of hay as well.

This is my Deere 1350 moco,Pull it with a 1981 IH 886.The tractor just plays with this 8 footer.

It would be of benefit, and REFRESHING even to us youtube gurus if you would expound upon WHAT is changing, and WHEN.

Youtube is chock full of videos promising "big changes," lofty aspirations, and pie in the sky dreams that never come to fruition. For once I would appreciate someone actually stating what they were going to do, when they were going to do it, and above all, FOLLOW THROUGH and actually do it.

Dang!

You?re right! Hopefully the next video will be different. I think it is going to be entitled, ?The Path Forward?.

Stay tuned... :)

BTW - I would like to see some videos of your J.I. Case tractors at work - might be a good winter project.

Ha ha - you?ll have to wait on the next video... Though I?m not sure I?m going to post it here. Seems posting videos invites negative vibes. I can get
that all day long at work, don?t need to come to YT for it.

BTW - I have replied to - two of your posts asking you contact me. Email is open.

Thanks,
Bill

Paul?

Paul,

You have a nice haying operation. I came very close to buying an 886 with the German diesel, 358 cu in if I recall correctly. It had a complete cab, but no AC - dealer told me it was that way from the factory; price was steep too. The Massey 1105 has been a very good tractor so far - knock on wood. There are a few things that need a bit of attention, but what 1977 year make Tractor doesn?t... I think you should make and post a few videos of your haying too. We?re considering a drone for next summer.

Take care,
Bill

THANKS so much, "BarnyardEngineering" for your post.

I shouldn't have posted the nasty comment I did (I apologize to you "Bill VA", not in my place to comment on behalf of the site owners) , but "BarnyardEngineering", your post supports my thoughts of wondering what the heck it was all about.

Nice video of the massey and the sickle cutter earning their keep. What kind of grass are you cutting?

Cant wait to see what comes next. I still use two NH451 sickle cutters.

Bill

Your mower looks to be cutting pretty good. I used to cut with a New Holland 451 "pitmanless" mower. I don't miss it at all. Cutterbar down on the ground hitting every mole hill would eventually break a sickle or guard. Best money I ever spent was a slightly newer, but well used, NH 479 haybine. Maybe it is the higher knife speed or the reel but that thing cuts through grass that would have stalled the old mower even in first gear. The mower eventually broke some expensive parts in the "pitmanless" drive and I parked it. Plenty of videos of me and the 479 working on youtube but I won't bore or annoy anybody with links to it.
Picture of it here on the Cockshutt 40 but I won't run it with an open tractor since I can't stand the grass pollen.

"What kind of grass are you cutting?"

That's an older video we took when we were taking back some of our fields. We had other folks paying us to cut and keep the hay for themselves as our cattle had gone down the road years before. What you see
in that video is the pitiful first cutting yield after a field has been mined out of nutrients. Hay folks would come-in, cut the hay and not put anything back. At some point, they all lost interest and that's when I
started haying the place. So it's just field mixed grass. We killed it off and over several years brought it back to some great hay ground. Our fields start out as timothy and as the legacy seed bed sprouts orchard
grass, bluegrass, fescue and others, we label our hay as timothy mixed grass and then at some point start over. I've got some fields in the fall of 2020 that will get a new life. we sell all of our hay, square bales,
95% to horse customers and the rest to goat, rabbit and cow customers.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks - I really had no issues with the sickle mower as we kept it tuned-up and in good shape and it cut like a champ and fast. Laid the hay out even across the field for drying. Our only issue with it was - with a day job, often we were pushed in the late evenings and after dark and as the heavy dew came, it would plug. The other problem is in the VA mountains where we farm, you're lucky to get a 3 day clear window for haying and a 5 day window is almost impossible - so we needed conditioning. We bought a Hesston 1110, still have an use it to some extent. The Hesston is an excellent machine. Our issue with it was also late evening/night cutting and plugging with heavy dew or trying to cut after a rain. The other problem was 7ft cut and I wanted to get on and off the field faster. I found a smokin' deal on a 9ft Krone mower conditioner and bought it. It has tine impellers which work great with our grass hay, but it is unstoppable in the heaviest of hay. Our mowing time, depending on field geometry, has been cut in half. If you see some of our videos with the MF1105 and Krone, some of them show us cutting at 7 mph with a clean cut. I could go faster, tractor has plenty of power, but it get's to be a rough ride. The MF and Krone at 7 mph are a sweet combo.
