Answers to some questions from earlier.I am no longer working for the custom guy I worked for in '18. Liked the work, met a lot of neat people, saw a lot of pretty country. But the long daily commute, the 70 dollars gas weekly were major 'downers'.Plus(more importantly)I didn't want to be gone all day,so far away from my wife every day.She has some serious health issues. However,I stillhelp him from time to time. He told me I was the the best helper he ever had. This year('19) I rented some ground and farmed at home again.Ended up growing hemp on all of it.A local guy came to me and asked me to grow it for him. No expence on my part.Just rent my ground and pay me for the labor and machine work. Planted it with my JD#71 corn planter.Bought blank plates and drilled them. Put a unit on a stand and played with it to get the correct seed drop(30" apart). However, probably wont do it again. Wont elaborate here.Did the usual/normal amount of custom work(plowing, ground work,'marking'(renewing, makeing new water corrugates/furrows) fields I also baled a lot of hay this summer.over 12,000 bales. at a buck a bale, pretty good wages. also did a lot of cutting and some stacking.Did a bit less mechanicing. That's OK,I tired of wrench turning for other people.T bought a motorcycle. Yamaha virago(Vtwin, looks and sounds like a Harley),1993,less than 6000 miles. looks, drives like a new one.Love it. Didn't know I was 'biker trash'! :)Added two tractors. A Ford 961. Bought cheap to speculate(double/triple my money),and an 8N Ford, late model, side dristributor. Ive always wanted an 8N,grew up on one.Was part of a 3way trade,to help a cousin sell a tractor, and another friend Get into something bigger. When the "smoke cleared" I have less than $500 in it.Gonna keep this one..Last month I bought a '68 JD55 combine(SB,cornspecial)/313 corn head.Ended up cutting up the old round back.(see my post on the combine forum).Just sunday I was reelected as vice president of our tractor club(ThunderMountain Flywheelers). All in all, been a good year, and a warm fall so far.Looking foreward to next year. Good to be back on YT.

Welcome back in a heart felt way. I see that you are still living in the same place (google earth) and was a a bit worried about Susan. Again Welcome back. Jim

Thanks,Jim.Susan is doing well. all things considered for her severe diabetic condition.Hi to Prescot. Come see us if you ever get back to western Colorado.

Will do. Prescot says Hi, and notes she teaches "How to Prevent Diabetes" classes to 55 and olders. Usually 20 to 25 every 6 months. Jim

I have been wondering how that job had been going, thinking of you now and then, because it was a huge change for you. I am glad that things have been going well.

First of all welcome back, secondly sounds like you did alright for the year. Nothing like paddling you own boat. Anxious to hear more on the hemp. Year before last we had 4 growers in this county, this year we had 141 folks grow hemp. They use cloned plants , growing it for the oil buds. Not sure they all will do it again.

Hello DeltaRed,

Welcome back, its not easy having health issues, but sounds like you are coping O.K. Having the skills and opportunity to keep food on the table is a blessing. Hope all will get better for you and your wife.
