Reminds me of my pipe wrench. Back in june we had a pretty bad storm hit our place.I worked on the back of the farm and told the young man helping me to put in 2 t posts close to the barns. I told him where the sledge hammers were to drive them with. Fast forward a couple of months. I needed my 36 inch pipe wrench. It doesn't get used often but anyone who has ever worked for me knows where I keep it. It wasn't where I keep it and I couldn't find it. Later in august we were working on the fence where the kid put the posts in. My pipe wrench was laying there on the ground!! I said what the ?>"#& is that doing here ? He said Oh I used it to drive those posts. I just shook my head. If I had said anything it would have probably burned the paint off of the posts !! I try to be patient because very few young people have any practical knowledge anymore.

The local family owned TEMCO farm and home store had a special promotion on aluminum scoop shovels back in October, with an interesting radio add. I thought that was a rather strange, promotion but we do have a large Amish presence in the area and they use those shovels for not only feed and poo,, but sawdust and snow, and they have lots of young-uns to whiled them. Most of them have radios too-----------------------Loren

Use them for snow! Try to find #14s, but usually end up with #12s! I try to get plastic, as the snow don't stick to them like it does to metal!
YMMV, Dave

Dave, the plastic scoop is my favorite snow shovel too. I had to drill and put a small bolt through the handle ten years ago but it is still working.

I've had a couple of the good old aluminum ones for years.
About once a year I set them on top of the wood stove 'til they get hot and then melt candle wax all over them.....works really well but I think the plastic ones would work even better.
