Local CL (Chautaqua Cty, WNY) keeps getting spammed with ads from a "[email protected]." They are usually what is claimed to be a 2012 JD 3038E, with loader, for $4,000. Sometimes it is a Mahindra, sometimes a Kubota, but always the Ben.Thompson guy. Then there is another one trying to sell a JD 4310 with BH and loader for $10,200. They use the CL "reply" feature, but then try to get you to switch over to your regular email when you contact them. They identify as "Sharon & James."
These are both scams.
Just sharing this here in case you are also afflicted.

I contacted him on the JD wanting to inspect it, he came back with, the tractor is in a storage unit in UT, but he would ship it to me free of charge. Then after I inspected it for 3 days E-bay would send him the money, and yeah, its a scam, I flag all his posts.

Ebay is full of scammers. I tried to order a service manual for a 467 JD baler. The dude is in Lithicania and you have one hour after ordering to cancel. So when you order from ebay, go a head an bend over, my opinion .I will contact my card company and it will not let it go through. My opinion "DON'T ORDER ANYTHING FROM E-BAY!!!!!!"

I have ordered a lot of things on e-bay. I have received everything I have ever ordered, The one time I was disappointed was when I ordered a manual for my MF 14 garden tractor. It turned out to be on a CD, rather than an actual book I could take to the garage. That was my own fault for not reading close enough. Greg

I have bought plenty of things through Ebay without a problem. I bought an 8250W generator once that when it came was a little different from what was shown in the ad, but the guy was so worried about keeping his good rating that he did what it took to make me happy.

IF IT WASN'T FOR E-BAY AND AMAZON, I COULD SAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR!!!! Currently waiting on wipers for my my MKX from E-bay that were less than 1/2 for the same thing locally. I only leave the house to shop in an emergency or for food. In the last 10 years, never been cheated once. Received the wrong part a few times, but returns have always been painless. And yes, I have bought a tractor off E-bay. I live in MI and got this one in OK then spruced it up a little.

Simply hit the flag marker on the top of the cl ad,and then the back button,to flag, remove the scammers. Knocks them out temporarily. The reason they prosper though is,there are people gullible enough to believe them, and send them money.

Your sprucing resulted in a nice looking tractor!

Can you clarify that statement as I have had a gmail account for years and have sold a lot of things on CL, EBAY and Facebook for years and have had people flag me just for spite a
couple of times. I consider myself a honest seller and usually am lucky to get back what I have in some items sometimes.Hopefully you are not one of those out for spite. If the seller
and the pics don't match that is another thing and agree.

Craigslist has FAQ regarding how to post your contact info. Their two-way email exchange is the default and preferred option. I am not aware of any rule against posting a personal email on CL, but this exposes you (the seller) directly to scammers. Buyers may also balk at sending you an email directly for the same reason in reverse.
