Where do you service or add hydraulic fluid to the PTO?
Draining The PTO is simple. I collected 5 gallons of contaminated hydraulic fluid and water. I find no plug no port to replace hydraulic fluid into the PTO. I do find a dipstick going into the transmission. I find nothing in service manuals indicating a place to add hydraulic fluid to the front section or PTO. Help

Not sure what you mean by PTO, there are two fill ports on the top right in front of the seat, the one on the left as you sit is
hydraulics it screws in the one on the right as you sit, mushroom shaped cap is the transmission. Not sure what you drained??

jgb Welcome to YT! I personally don?t know Allis Chalmers tractors, if it is like many other tractors
of that era the entire rear axle case is used as the reservoir for the hydraulic system. So you have
possibly drained only a portion of all the fluid. Not knowing for sure I will place you post on the
Allis section of the forum with a link to this post so the folks with more knowledge of your tractor
can see this. I will place a link here to that forum section.

Jim is correct. The hydraulic system dipstick is on the left of the gearshift and requires several turns to get it removed. The transmission/differential is to the right of the gearshift and takes only 1/2 turn to release it. Both take the same type of hydraulic/transmission oil.

I cannot recommend highly enough that you make every effort to obtain an owner's manual for your new tractor. This will provide you with crucial information like this, because changing the oil in the PTO is only one of the many maintenance items on this tractor.

It does not make sense to me that people will spend thousands of dollars on a tractor, but waffle and quibble and complain over spending $20 for an owner's manual.

I am very sure. When the 170-180's came out, they always had a universal oil used in both places. Many older tractors like D-17's were changed over when oils got changed. All 190's and 190XT's were also changed over.
