I stopped by an Amish welding shop recently and saw this truck awaiting repair. He said it was only one of 17 or so ever built. Window tag said it was a 1965

That looks like an Emoryville to me. It was the largest selling class 8 for four years. I doubt that they made any with steel cabs. It preceeded the Transtar which was also a big seller.

So it s not as rare as was claimed? This truck s frame is aluminum as well as the body. It has fuel tax stickers on it from
Arkansas and new hampshire

Maybe rare nowadays since not a lot
survived, aluminum frames were prone
to cracking especially after pitting
near brackets. But certainly a lot of
them were made

I never saw an aluminum cab Emeryville. The steel cabs on those would rust so bad you couldn't jack the cabs up.That one looks like an old Mayflower moving truck.I drove one that somebody bought from the Mayflower people,it had that paint scheme on it.The one I drove had what somebody called centerpoint steering, the center of the front hubs stuck out quite a bit beyond the outside of the wheels. The centerline of the tires were inboard of the kingpins. When you walked by you could bash your knees on the bearing caps.It was like power steering, but it ate kingpins. It was touted as a safety thing, they said if you blew a front tire the truck would go straight.I hauled milk crates out of a factory in Raymond N.H. and could palm that steering wheel around when backing up.I liked the truck.

his truck is yellow and green because it was leased to International Transport on Rochester, Mn. The Emeryville was replaced by the CO-4000 in April of 1965. I saw this truck at the American Truck Historical Society show in Des Moines, Ia in 2017.

There used to be a Tanker company that ordered light weight cabovers from IH . I looked at a transtar one time but the aluminium frame had already started cracking.

uan used a lot of the conventional Emeryvilles in their tanker division.

I once knew a guy that had a C90 Autocar that was all ? aluminum. Had a little 175 JT in it and it was not much for power but it was light. . Old Scovy
