My Latest Tractor

I just got this Farmall B over the weekend, I have been looking to buy one for a couple years now. This one was right down the road , been sitting for 15+ years. Runs and drives decent. I have some work to do on the one side brakes, seat spring, steering wheel, muffler and probably tune up and carb rebuild. I hope to use it for raking hay and the PTO elevator for putting the hay in the barn. It had a belly mower but I didn't have need of that. So far happy with it, takes a bit of getting used to sitting off center, but sure is a nimble little guy.

Nice find Mike, have fun. If left side brakes are bad it will be oil soaked from leaking seal at transmission so replace that seal too. I do like the straight pipe btw.

In 1954 I bought a 1941 B I was 17 at the time. I traded it and later bought it back. It will be the last to leave with my widow
selling it. I pulls a 6 foot Woods brush hog with it. Last week I stored it for the winter. They are greatly underrated. Yes I have several other tractors

Thanks ! It's the right side brake, feels like nothing there at all. It had no muffler so I just threw that straight pipe on for now ! Kinda loud though.

A great looking B tractor, at least you got wheel weight's with it! Mine has original rear tires on it, a 1945! Check and keep tight, the bolts on each side that hold that big wide yoke! Have fun!

Congratulations! Growing up I spent many hours on a "B" pulling a John Deere turd hearse or sickle bar mowing or raking hay.

NOT many HP, but a very capable little tractor none the less.

The guy I got from said the
original engine failed many
years ago and was replaced
with a Super C engine, I
didn't realise that swap was
possible. I will have to try
and check the engine numbers
to see if that's true. If so
should be a little better in
the HP department!

Old guy used to be a big hay guy, first pull type baler, had 1.he put another seat on other axle with platform.he then sat on it training new hired help to rake hay

R.w.b, I bet that he found that the time training the help to rake was well spent. I think that raking takes more thought than any other step in haying. I know that I never get a tension pain in my neck while doing anything other than raking.

I am not really a Farmall fan but I always liked the Bs. Four speeds, enough power, tires aren't huge diameter and even though the operator is off center the engine isn't like on an A.
