Point if clarification on animal names

First let me make a clarification. If some one using the word vet in their handle let me say if VET is from service to the United States military I sincerely thank you for your service. If vet is referring to animal care let me just point out that although many refer to power units powered by internal combustion as to male or female names veterinary is accepted not to mechanical items. The reference to GOAT for slang to a Chrysler truck is hard to accept as a RAM is the name for a MALE SHEEP not a goat!!! Look it up. The accepted name for a male goat is Buck or Billy. Hope this helps clear up terms for many using slang in an effort to communicate. Just trying to be helpful. Terms verified by American Standard dictionary. Although there may be other comments as to this post I will communicate no further.

I think people know full well a male sheep is a ram. Calling a Dodge (now Ram) truck a goat is somewhat derogatory or at least said in jest.

Well if the ground would dry out after the "Halloween Flood of 0-19" I would get back in the Ugly Bison and plow.

A woman was interviewing a Congressman on a news show, and wanted to ask him about the military situation in the mid-east. She prefaced it with "I would like to get a veterans perspective on this." He laughed and said "I do get called a Vet now and then, but its because I'm a Veterinarian." She quickly moved on to other topics.

I've been called "An Old Goat" before, I may have even referred to my Hoosier friend and Neighbor Wilson as that LOL

Same here.

A Pontiac GTO is the only vehicle I've ever heard the nickname "Goat" applied to.

This came up before, someone must be getting your goat on this topic.... ha ha.

I?ve never actually heard them called a goat and I own three of them.

Pickups, not critters.

Don't think most folks here think this is a prim and proper social media site where one must pull up their knickers sit down and have a cup of proper English tea before joining in the discussion.

My high school English teachers were big on proper language usage. I disagreed and reminded them I before E "except after C". But living in a town of German desent violated that rule quite often with last names. I pointed out the it didn?t matter what was said as long as the 2 people communicating understood each other. They disagreed I also told them that language evolves. Remember when Gay meant to be happy! The evaluations goes on.

I just cant believe as long as youve been here, you have never read any of TVs posts to know how he "speaks" on the forums. Yes, I recall he is a Vietnam vet, but he is also a Tractor "Veteran" as well. I may not always agree with what he says, and I can almost always tell when hes had "3 fingers", but I know exactly what he was saying.

While whining about names why not mention children(young humans) being constantly referred to as kids(young goats)? I hope this clears up terms for many using slang in a pitiful effort to communicate. And I will communicate no further. TA Ta.

Wilson, are we having a bit of an OCD fit this morning?

Now, re-read your subject line. Does this make sense? Point "IF" clarification? Now go look up the word IF. I'm sure you meant OF, but my point is that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

How about the one that uses "are" instead of "or?" Or the ones that use "where" instead of "were?" Then there are the derogatory and deliberate misspellings of places like eBay, Harbor Freight, ad a few others. As long as we are at it, may as well clear the air.

LOL

Bill,
In the 70's wasn't a GTO Called a Goat?
Are some Goats Rams?
Are some donkeys ASKs?
If that's ture then why is a Ram In the ASK called a Goose? Please clarifiy these names.
Inquiring minds want to know.

If I recall Bill was a teacher, a trucker, may have built grain bins, sold tractors. He has a very colorful resume.
Not sure if he has a convience store.
Bill is a good man and a friend. Please cut him some slack. He has a heart of gold. Not many like him.

Did not Dodge use 2 mountain sheep (rams) in some of their ads for the dodge truck. With the 2 sheep ramming each other, like when they butt heads or fight for order of peck. Also is not some one who has spent a long time doing a particular job or position considered a vet. Short for a veteran opposite of somebody who just got hired in to a particular job or position.

It seems to me that a lot of people here take great pride in appearing to be semi-literate.

I remember those commercials. I recall at the time thinking that instead of those sheep they should show two Dodge trucks ramming each other like that! Then we'd know how "Ram Tough" they actually were!
