jd 568 baler top roller bearing

Do the belts need to be removed to replace the bearings in the top roller? this is the 5 or 6 inch roller near the top close to the gate hinge. Has bolt that needs 250 ft lbs torque. Thanks for help.
 

No the belts don't require removal to replace top roller brgs. I remove belt tension by locking gate then raising tension arm then slide bar under belts to hold them up while roller is removed to replace the brgs. After replacing brgs/shaft then slide roller under belts to reinstall. It's been several yrs since I replaced those brgs but I had an assistant helping me & changed those brgs in the field.
 
Sounds like a whole bunch of fun. How about having to get something like that
out and you have a 6 foot shale bar and a little kid standing on it to keep
stuff up.
