JD 6620 hydro slower in forward / seems fast in reverse

I believe the ground speed going forward is slowing in my John Deere 6620 sidehill. In first gear you hardly know you are moving. 2nd gear would be pretty slow for combining beans. Combined most of this fall in 3rd. Road gear seemed a little slower too. Hydro always pulls the hills OK. Something I noticed today is that it goes the normal speed in reverse. In the YT archives it mentions a stretched cable from the hydro lever to the transmission. So, to fix that is it primarily an adjustment? Are there two cables (forward and reverse) or just one? Any one know the procedure for adjustment/repair? Thanks.

If the Morse cable from the hydro lever to the hydro has "stretched" it would seem that the combine stopping when the lever is in the "neutral" position would be affected.

Has that happened?

If that's what's going on, no point in wasting time adjusting it, it's time to replace the failed cable.

How about the 4 belts that drive the hydro pump, is the tensioner working correctly?

Are they adjusted properly and not "bottoming out" in the sheaves and slipping?

Hydro lever seems to be centered correctly. Forward and rearward movement stops exactly in the middle. As I remember I think the hydro lever seems to want to click in place midway. I had thought of that myself. Looking at John Deere Parts I see that there is only one cable to adjust the hydro from forward to reverse.

I cant recall for sure but you can switch 2 valves around on the hydro and its it's still slow you need a rebuild.
