830 Case At Work

We finished up the oat patches about 6:30 last night and I took this picture unloading at the bins. My brother's 830 Case running the 10x50 Farm King auger and his 970 on the grain wagon. Its also a Farm King built in Manitoba. I will have some video to follow when time permits editing. Still 65 acres wheat to go but its looking like a no harvest day with sleet/snow in the air.

(quoted from post at 13:33:32 10/26/19) Cool. I like the old Cases. Where are u that u are still doing oats and wheat? Bill
East central SAsk. where the harvest is as late as I have seen it in years. Might be a replay of 1969 when my dad finished up combining at 2:00 am on an open 542 Cockshutt in freezing temps on November 11.

I like the auger. Remember many cold December days , unloading milo in the 1970?s. We had to wait for frozen
ground to get the old 2wd Gleaner combine through the mud.

Oats would be shot by now here.
Yes, it is way late to harvest oats, or even wheat, but weather dictates when we do it. I could have swathed these oats a month ago and had inches of rain on the swaths and sprouted by now. Leaving them standing was not a great option either since they were laying down pretty bad and had shelled some. Still they did better than last year and moisture tested better than expected at 14.5%. Only one point above dry which is pretty darn good this year. I did not harvest one bushel of dry wheat yet and I don't think anybody else here has either.
