Pole shed lighting

We are replacing. Poleshed that collapsed during last winters
storm. Need advice on type of lighting in building and also for
light on outside over door. Are motion lights a good choice for
front?

For out front those motion lights are fine but in under the roof I would highly reccomend the twin tube 4 foot LEDs we have been discussing on here. You cannot beleive how much light they make. Start screwing them up in the rafters and plug them in. It will look like the Fulton Street Fish market. Summer or winter they come on the second you flip the switch. Someone on here suggested a zig zag pattern mounting them for less shadow and much smoother lite. Sounds interesting.

I second LED lighting. Changed my shop over from fluorescent and it mad a huge difference. Rather than using 4 footers, why not 8 footers. No gap in light. Cost may be the thing that prohibits.

Those motion lights must be made different than the motion lights that are outside my apartment entrance and garage door. These don't amount to cap. Don't come on when needed.

That is why the other posters recomend about the zig zag would use those 4 footers more gooder. We need someone to do a science project and see how this comes out.

The ones my neighbor has they are under the eves of the roof and are protected. He buys the highest quality ones he can find. They take a few seconds to activate and then stay on for like 10 minutes. Two flood bulbs per fixture.

I've got a LED motion light outside my garage. Works good.
On dim when the sun goes down, comes on super bright when something gets in range. I've got it set to stay on bright for 5 minutes if the area is clear.
Got it at Menards.

Yes! You know, Leroy has never been noted as a "fast mover". A slow methodical planner, yes, but a fast mover, no. (;>))

I hung 3 of those 100' temporary construction lights in my 60x104. You know, the yellow ones with a socket every 10'. Screwed in some 180w equivalent LEDS I picked up for $4 a pop on eBay. For under $300 I've got a building that is wicked bright.

I gave up on motion detector lights a long time ago.

Never found one that didn't false trip from the wind blowing the trees, and then wouldn't come on when walked up on.

They may have improved...

Forgot about those construction string lites. Was at several night photo shoots
where they "paint with lite". Looks really cool if done correctly. They use
flashbulbs ,or huge strobes, and now big pannels of 5600 COLOR LEDs. Looks
great. The last one was shot by the master. Winston link. I just missed getting
to meet him. So sad.

just switched my shed over to led lights, 100ft long shed, 5 leds on board on bottom of rafter, 14ft high. led lights, 4400 lumens with reflector, lights up real nice, at menards, $30 each. screw into regular light socket. half my shed caved in also

There is a company in Michigan... "PRO LIGHTING" I filled a shop with 8 foot lights made in the USA. Not cheap though; But I want to keep my money in the USA! Look up "Vapor Tight Lights"! I paid around $200 a piece for them.

Under porch roof, turn on switch inside by door, light comers on, by the time you step outside it goes off and does not want to come back on. Other things like if walking beside the attached garage 10' out from walkin door will go on and off. Does not usually stay on long enough to walk from vehical parked in front of garage to house door. Luckly street light in front yard.

I use 4 ft LED bright white 5000L from RK, $11.
I have issues with LED dusk to dawn lights. No parts available. When it goes bad you have to climb a ladder and remove fixture from farm. Scary work. Need 3 hands getting fixture on and off.

So, using my 70 year old redneck skills, I gut old mercury vapor dusk to dawn light. Install a conventional light bulb base. Use just the light sensor and buy the brightest cob LED. Only two parts, phote eye and replaceable LED bulb.

I've done this to 6 dusk to dawn lights. Been working for years.
