Hemp bust

I was at his farm last night but before this happened. I don't know if Lyle Schmitt is the one that got hit or one of his men and I don't know how bad they got hit.
Lyle has 100 acre of hemp in Mendon Mi. for CBD oil. More than half the field is hanging in the barns now.

Here's a direct link below to read the article. Reminds me of when us kids used to raid gardens for carrots and peas. Now the garden
raiding is for something a bit more stimulating .... ha! Confronting the new generation of garden raiders is probably not a good idea these
days, you never know what might result. Not sure if the 0.3% variety does much for a guy. What would be the % of the sought after
ingredient in the potent variety of marijuana I wonder?

According to info on the net in the old days (1960's) pot had about 3% on average. Today it's about 10-11%. So at 0.3? Yer gonna have to consume about 10 to 33 times the amount you would for regular pot.

Wonder if it would be possible to tell from looking if it was hemp or weed?

They could have still made a considerable profit bagging it up and selling it.

Wouldn't do much for their reputation, but they would have passed it for the real thing, got the money and gone.
 
Marijuana growers also only use female plants. They have to eliminate male plants-you don' want the plants to pollinate. Mark.
 
Hemp and marijuana look identical. There are different varieties of hemp and marijuana, just like corn or beans or hay. Hemp has to be tested for THC content to be salable-I had thought marijuana was about 30% THC, while Hemp Has to be .3% . Mark.
 
Unbelievable. how much of the hemp is planted here in my little county . Harvest is in full swing
and some guys are paying $20/ 25 dollars an hour g=for good labor. Just more plants in the field
than there are folks to harvest it. Ever old empty warehouse ,barn, or building has been leased to
dry hemp.
 

Apparently hemp was grown here in Iowa quite a few years ago. It still grows wild and is known as "Iowa ditch weed". I grew up in the '60s. Never had any use for any of that stuff, but I knew of folks who did hunt the ditch weed, harvest it, and smoke it. If it looks like marijuana, some one will smoke it.

LOL yea it was called "Kansas Killer Weed" down there. According to the users it wasn't very potent and was a pretty rough smoke. Only time I ever touched it was in the field. They would order us to camo our tanks with vegetation........ :shock: :lol: ! Then they would get mad and order us to take it off the tanks. I think they finally sprayed it on Ft Riley. Didn't see any my last hitch there.

30 plants worth $30,000? I don't buy it. Not for hemp.

I see you "reefer madness" types harumphing at the news of these thefts with your "I told ya so" attitudes... What is the big deal?

So some misguided stoners pilfer a few plants. The joke is on them! By all accounts, hemp is HARSH smoking and doesn't have enough THC in it to give you any kind of high. You have to smoke a TON to get anything. The crime has a built-in punishment.

Like trying to choke down IPA beers to get drunk.

Like stealing cow corn and trying to eat it like sweet corn.

If you're too dumb to figure out that there are easier ways to get where you want to go, you deserve what you get.

Here in NY you need to have "security" for your hemp crop the way I read the requirements. Pretty sure I read that means tall fences and surveillance... Are other states allowing this to be grown in open fields? If you're growing $1000 plants in open fields, who is the idiot?
