mechanic tip

I have been replacing the disc cutters on an old John Deere disc. I had busted and broken parts from removal all over the barn floor, plus blocks of wood and extension cords and air hoses everywhere. I was stumbling around not very organized trying to get the bearing boxes back together when my wife brought me a cup of coffee. SWIMBO said " why don't you throw all the old stuff away so you won't be cussing and tripping over everything ? " Why didn't I think of that??? Ellis

Sometimes the ladies have an interesting, down to earth perspective.

I'm reminded of a story I heard of a fellow who was an avid golfer, but his wife was not interested in the game. She did agree to accompany him once when he went to play golf.

The first thing he did when he teed of was to hit a hole in one. While he was jumping around celebrating the hole in one, his wife had a puzzled look on her face.

She asked, "Isn't that what you're supposed to do?"

My sons laugh at me for being a neat freak in the shop. Yes I have tons of parts stuck all over the place BUT the floor is cleaned every night and the tools/hose/cords are put away. I do not care if the job is not done things get picked up every night. You Might loose a little time getting the tools back out but I have found you gain time by not having to hunt for tools scattered all over the place. So it is wash time wise.

My wife tells me of a cousin of hers who is wealthy, why he just buys stocks when they're cheap, waits, and sells them when they go up!

I am the same way unless it late at night. the best thing I found is a roll around cart for keeping everything nice and tighty. The only down side is dad put his garden plants on it in the spring so he can roll them out on warm days.

I believe in a clean workplace, but I seldom throw anything away that I might have a use for in the future! Our kids can throw it away when I'm gone!

My first job, after high school, was in a tractor shop. One of the first things the owner told me was, "I have never seen anyone fired for cleaning the floor." 50+ years later, I still follow that principle.

No matter what ive always wiped my tools clean and put them up,even if i change to another machine, reason 1 clean tidy tools kinda represents clean tidy work.number 2 make sure i dont loose a tool.
The owner at the ihc shop told me that, and number 3 from me.locking tool box slows tool thieves away
