I'd suggest a Kubota. Your local dealer would be able to help you select which one.

I voter for Kubota too. I have an M6060 63 hp with cab. I've had a problem with it but the dealer has taken care of it for me. It's big enough to do what you want. Most people think they can get by without buying a tractor that is big enough for what you may need. It has a short turning radius and is 4 wheel drive if you need it. I never owned one before but I have found several times it has came in handy in mud and on hills.

You did not say used or new but there are certainly KUBOTAS out there that will suit you needs. Something in the 35/40 hp four wheel drive with a loader.

I'm not about to say one brand is better or worse than another. They all have good and bad points. I would recommend going with whatever brand has the best dealership in your area. That seems to be getting harder to do anymore though. You didn't give us any idea of your budget but I'd suggest getting the newest machine you can afford. Jm is a very knowledgeable person and he recommends 35-40 hp. I would be more comfortable with a 50ish hp tractor. A bigger tractor can be used for smaller jobs but a smaller tractor can't handle bigger jobs. That would give you a little extra hp in case a bigger project pops up.

My local dealer has this MX5200 2wd sitting on his lot, brand new 50hp dry clutch,8 speed synchronized transmission,$25,000.00 Canadian funds. The 4wd model with loader would cost more. If I could find and excuse to buy it, I?d have out in the shed already.

I vote for Kubota also
I have 2 L models a L4400 2 wheel drive and a L4850 4 wheel drive
both are great tractors
I got them because the dealer is 15 miles from me and has great serv.
the L4850 is a 5 cyl and so much power.
so yes I VOTE Kubota

These directionless "I need a tractor" threads are tough to answer, nigh on impossible...

If you don't know anything about tractors then you don't want anything old. Most old tractors show up at your place with some major issue preventing them from safely being put to work right away. Often, it's a problem that would cost more to fix if you send it off to a professional, than you paid for the tractor. You just blew your budget buying the tractor so now you've got to figure out how to fix it yourself with nothing but a pair of cheap slip joint pliers and an old hammer in your toolbox. You don't even understand righty-tighty, lefty-loosey yet! A very helpless situation to find yourself in.

Now that said, the longer you shop the more money you can save, and the newer/larger/better tractor you can get. You've got a long way to spring, and a long time to shop. Don't get hung up on "A, B, or C." There are always other choices.

Keith you saying Kubota after all the issues you have been thru reminds me of buying a new Harley in the 70's. I had it for about 30 days and took it back to the dealer, and gave them the list (long) of problems. They ranged from the horn falling off, starter dragging, on & on. Finally, after reading all the issues the service manager asked me how I like it, I said I absolutely LOVE it!

(quoted from post at 10:45:02 10/14/19) #1 question what is the maximum Dollar amount you want/can pay for a tractor?

That was my question too. What's your budget? $1500.00? $3500.00? $6500.00? $10K? $15K? $25K? Telling a guy with a $2500.00 budget to buy a $25K tractor is wasted time.

Where are you located? I have a Allis Chalmers 5040 with around 1680 hours I need to sell. It's very dependable.

I must be missing something. I don't see how you would tear up
a 3000 with that list of chores. Let alone a 7000. What happened?

As for a replacement, are you looking for new or used?
New, I would look for a local dealer with good support.
Used, I would look for the same if you're not confident doing it yourself.

But don't go cheap. Many of the cheap brands had local dealerships
that disappeared overnight, and their parts support nearly as fast!
I had a re-badged Jinma once. Also had a Suzi. Parts were a bear
to find and expensive when you could.

If you're using 3 pt equipment, remember that the category I/II
change over is basically at 50 HP. If you have Cat I equipment you
may have to add some adapters with a 50+ HP tractor.
Adapters are not a big deal, but you can also tear the equipment up
pretty easily with a bigger tractor. Not to mention equipment such as
a brush hog may not be wide enough depending on the tractor layout.
You may have already ran into that between the 3000/7000.
Best of luck! :)

The 3000 was great followed by the 7000(85hp!) with a loader on it. they were both older and well used but very reliable units. Came from a local dealer who carried only used Ford
tractors and parts and could repair any of them in his sleep. He retired and I got this JD 5045D (also used) as a replacement. Has had scattered problems fro the get go(not to mention
Ias U said I had todownsixe the bushog down from 7'to 6'. I'm ok here with 2 wd and don't need so much HP .I'm older and think 50hp or so and possibly 4wd would be nice when
picking up heavy loads. I'll be trading the JD 5045D in on the deal so I could add to that $15-20000. I need some reliable make tractor as close to being new as I can find. Seems
Kubota keeps coming up but I've never been crazy about them. Not many dealer near me in southside virginia except JD and Kubota.
