Check the point gap, could be the points are closed up, not enough gap.

Pull one plug wire at a time running, see which cylinders are firing, which are not. Check for spark at the plug end of the wires that make no difference when pulled. Should get a blue hot spark that will jump 1/4" or more at the plug end of each wire.

Check for fouled plugs, crossed wires, carbon tracked cap, water under the cap, bad wires.

Check the compression. If adjoining cylinders are low, could be the head gasket blown between cylinders. Look the valve train over for broken valve springs, bent pushrod, intake valve not opening. Check the valve lash adjustment.

if I didn't know better, I would say that the owner transplanted a small JD (maybe a L) engine into the Ford, just because he could. sort of like a Cummins into a Dakota or something... :)

I'm 100% sure this Tractor is running perfectly! If agjim built it, it has something unique going on under the hood! I heard it run. And he wouldn't say what he did to it!

Or a Ford V8 in a farmall? Or an airplane engine in an Allis B? Sounds like Bill may have met this guy too?! Lol.

IF...? you cut the camshaft in half and welded it back together
clocked exactly 180 degrees from original, you could have
2 --- two cylinder engines on the same crankshaft, firing each cylinder simultaneously.
Wire two plugs in the same hole in the dist.

Lucky for me you are willing to help with old tractors! I sent link to Dave in Idaho. Maybe he can figure it out!

Segment the cam and reclock the pieces. The 1-4 and 2-3 pistone are already doing what is needed. Put a coil from a 2000 Subary in it that fires 2 cylinders at once, and run it. Jim

no, the V8 Farmall and the Allis B were projects of one of his talented friends. But I WILL stand by my Cummins/ Dakota statement, and a Ranger/Cummins too.

It appears the hydraulic pump and the lower radiator hose is in the same place. So, I believe it's a ford engine.

That would be cool to ave to drive around at a show. It would get people like Janicholson all riled up, LOL.

Riled up, NAH Putting A briggs 10 hp on the PTO, and a Barbecue where the engine is supposed to be makes me hungry, not riled. Playing with Iron is
fun. Cut down field hopper Triumph Hearld. 46 chevy custom with no body, 1965 Cotton with a RD-350 twin, 65 Safari VW with a 3.8L Jaguar 6, 67 VW van
W Opal 1900 and 2 transmissions (13 speeds forward and 7 in reverse), Austin Healey Sprite with 1800 toyota Hemi, I be different. Jim
