Did I miss something. There used to be a guy & gal. I think James & Nancy from some where in Texas. I haven't seen them post for a while.

I was thinking about them last night I always liked their videos doing their farming things with the old 2 cylinder john deeres

James still posts time to time. He posted about renting out their hay ground this year and selling some of his hay equipment. I would say with him and Nancy being fully retired they are keeping busy.

Good morning everyone!

Nancy and I are doing just fine.

Up until yesterday, it has been too hot to either think or type.

Nancy is keeping busy with her "new" horse and monthly trail rides with her local riding club and friends.

She also spends a lot of time preparing to teach our Sunday School class.

We support my high school football team on Friday nights and support Kilgore Jr. College football on Saturdays.

I have enrolled at our local community college to pursue a degree in Computer and Information Science.

All of the courses are online/distance learning and self-paced.

Also was invited to join the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society (the "smart kids") as a new member.

I am hoping to help bridge the generation gap (68) with the young folks (18-20).

I will say that these young folks are not only smart, but also very goal oriented.

Gives me a whole new perspective and respect for some of our younger generation.

I still check in on YT daily for all then news, weather, sports, political analysis, birthdays, anniversaries, and "[i:654c4848f0]drama[/i:654c4848f0]".

Thanks my friends for checking on us here on the farm in NE Texas.

Unfortunately Uncle Thurston and Aunte'(pronounced Ontay) Lovie got divorced after leaving Gilligan's Island.

Uncle Thurston took up with Mary Ann and Ginger as a [i:654c4848f0]m?nage ? trois[/i:654c4848f0] somewhere in Southern California.

Aunte' Lovie, whose legal residence was in Texas, sued him for divorce.

Since Texas is a community property state, that's where the husband leaves the community and the wife gets all the property, Aunte' got all the property and money.

Once Uncle Thurston's money ran out, well you guessed it, both Mary Ann and Ginger ran out.

Afterwards Uncle Thurston made a meager living as the voice of Mr. Magoo.

Aunte' Lovie had a number of "significant others" after the divorce and had one child out of wedlock.

He later was the heir to her fortune, but out of shame, changed his last name.

He now owns the Dallas Cowboys.

Yes, the video of James mowing and running into the tree with the mower was a classic. Glad to hear that they're doing fine. Even retirement farming is a lot of work, so am not surprised that they are cutting back on that part of it. Kind of like me- retirement was a little difficult for awhile, but I seem to be getting into the spirit of it very nicely now, thank you.

James,

One of our daughter's favorite classmates in college last year, was a guy in his 80's. She said he was very interesting to talk to.

He was a retired professor... said he continued to take college courses to keep his mind sharp and to connect with the younger generation.

I left Dallas at 3:30, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 and never looked back. People kept telling me to give myself time to 'adjust' to retirement. Yeah, right. By time I got out my truck and to the house, I had 'adjusted'. Have loved every minute.

Last year, hay cutting was a nightmare. Multiple equipment breakdowns, rain when forecast said 0% chance which damaged or ruined the cutting, etc, etc, etc. We decided we didn't need the headache any more. Sold the balers, cutters and rakes this spring. Haven't regretted it one bit. Contacted our neighbor who has cattle and a former customer and they took over cutting the hay fields. I got enough for my horses, they took their share for cutting and paid a nominal price for anything over that. EASY!

Now we just do maintenance around the place, but there's always plenty of that. We still spray for weeds and keep our fields in top condition.

I am doing more horseback riding. Lost my horse of 17 yrs to colic in March. Bought a new one in April. He's young and not very educated, but a nice guy. Started taking him out on trails in this area and found out about a trail riding club which I have joined. There is a club ride once a month. I have made friends with some of the members and we get together to ride between the club rides.

Since James played football when he was in high school and I always enjoyed watching, it was a natural progression to start going to his former high school's games. I must brag on him a bit. James was the second fastest guy in the state when he was in high school. He played free safety on defense and no one scored when he was on the field. Their team won the state championship in 1968.

Last year on a whim, we went to a Kilgore College game since they play on Saturdays. Had a ball and bought season tickets for this year. Game days are dinner generally at Jalapeno Tree (excellent Mexican food) then a ball game.

In the spring, I spend time in the flower beds and I mow the yard since I've always enjoyed mowing. James does the heavy stuff like maintenance mowing around the place, cutting low hanging limbs, etc.

James tried to sell a couple of our tractors since we're not using them anymore, but no takers. Apparently, that market has dried up. Its ok, we didn't have to sell them, just thought we'd pass them on to someone who would use them.

Because our tv reception is very bad here, I have started buying dvd's off ebay and in the evenings we like to watch a movie.

We pretty much do as we please.

Life is good.
