A little something for the JD folks

Been driving by this guy for years and admired his collection. Now I see he has these for sale. The ones with the rock picker and cab are bare back. I know nothing about them and am not associated with him at all, just thought some might be interested.

He is south of Rochester on 63 just north of the Iowa border. He has more and nicer ones too.

I stopped there one day also,Jon, he's a nice guy, we had a very good talk, he also got some nice old 105 J D Combines too,a few Diesel as i remember!

I had a JD 105 combine once. I bought it to replace a 55.

I always said I made two mistakes with that 105. The first was when I bought it, and the second was when it got on fire, I put the fire out. (Honest! I was welding on the muffler and something hot dropped into some chaff and oil under the engine).

I admit, though, it was that particular combine. It had seen better days when I bought it, and the only reason I bought it was for extra bin capacity. I got tired of cutting a particular field in two because I couldn't make a full round with the 55 without the bin being full.

Your saying 105's got my attention. What part of MN? I always enjoy talking to people about the old 5 series machines. My 95 is in the shop right now getting a few little things done before harvest. Tom

Goose I bought a 105 once that was way too abused but at the time I didnt know combines well enough to know what to watch out for. The first five seasons I swore I would haul it to the junk yard at the end of the season but instead after season five I drove it in the shop and went completely through it. It was stripped down to pretty much a bare shell and rebuilt. I got 14 fairly trouble free seasons out of it after that rebuild.
