That is where IH got the idea for the cab on the 66 series tractors. LOL

Owned a IH 1566 with this cab. Not the best to get into and out of.

Everyone had "outhouses" for cabs until Deere came out with the Sound guard cab and then it was a try to catch-up race!--Tee

Deere '[i:ce2d1e0e78]had[/i:ce2d1e0e78]' to come up with that cab. They put pipes in the line of sight and had to make some way to see around 'em. *hehe*

I bought an Oliver 880 diesel in the early '80's from a dealer in eastern Oregon. It had the same kind of homemade cab, only not enough windows and it was like the Black Hole of Calcutta in there. It started and ran good, and they only wanted $1,500 for it, so I went in the building to make my deal. Owner and 2 salesmen were in there- I told them I'd take the tractor at their price if they'd take the cab off. All 3 of them started laughing, and owner pulled 2 5 dollar bills out of his wallet and handed them to the 2 salesmen. Said one "We told the boss that we'd save some time if we just took that gawd-awful cab off first thing. He bet us 5 bucks apiece that we could sell it with the cab."

That rig had a lot of snort. Neighbor was clearing some land and trying to take some of the humps out by dragging an I-beam crossways. There was a hill, and his JD 2020 wouldn't pull it up the hill, so he was going to borrow a Cat D-4. I knew about when he came over every evening after work to work on the project, so I was ready with the 880 when he drove in, and pulled it smartly up the hill. He didn't knock my "old" Oliver quite so much after that.

Near here there is a Farnall H or M that someone made a cab for out of a pickup truck cap and plywood. I haven't seen it from inside but it must be pretty hard to see out of. It's not
as nice looking as the one in your picture.
