Small Engine Question

I need a new air cooled engine for a 3500 watt generator I am wondering if any of the Look Alike Hondas are available with a tapered shaft. Is it feasible to replace the engine? The generator is new but out of warranty. Is there a standard taper?

The 212 Predator engine should fit, but I am not sure about the tapered shaft or if there is an adapter. They are good engines.

Look closely at the generator, many not only have a tapered shaft but the side cover of the engine and the endcover of the generator are one

I have 3 good generators that need engine s too. I can't find one either. I have been tempted to turn the shaft down on a new one myself. Just haven't had the time. Maybe you could have a machinest do it for you.

I googled "portable generator replacement engine", and got lots of pictures of engines, alternators, etc. Not one picture was of an engine with a tapered output shaft. Sorry.
