Does harbor freight sell engines to fit generators?the one I have is a 5500 watt.engine is 14.50 whatever that means
 
Is your generator a Harbor freight model and what is the running wattage or peak wattage. Do you know the displacement of the original engine?

The 14.5 could mean running hours and not horsepower. The engines of the Harbor freight models vary depending on the model.
 
the big difference in the generator engine is that the crankshaft is tapered and threaded,
to take a center bolt where the rotor fits. besides any load control devices that may be fitted.
you might luck out in finding a used engine on the buy and sell sites?
 
I do not know where you are located but I have the exact reverse good engine and bad generator, Brigs on a Troy Built. Located in Tennessee and cheap.
 
It would help to know what brand it is. Model and serial number. What you are asking is like saying my car has a problem.
 

Costs less and works better if you sell the busted generator and purchase a new Champion.
Always purchase a couple of sizes larger than what you "need".

hunting camp 175 miles away so I don?t have the
serial or model numbers.would the 14.50 be engine
displacement? I believe someone told me it was
about 11 hp.buck and Deere is champion supposed
to be a better generator?
 
I have two 3500 w RV champion. RV means all 3500 w is available at one outlet.

If not RV, you may have 2 120v outs and each is half 3500w.

I was told champion is a honda clone.

I've had no problems.

At one time the Champion Clone of the Honda made a point of building a better generator than the Honda it was copied from.
Once you use an inverter generator on a camping trailer or at a remote hunt camp. You won t go back to a howling 3600rpm gen set again.
