My Deere let me down

My 7775 skidsteer started getting finicky starting the last couple of weeks and now it won't crank, just hear clicks and the display goes crazy. Checked all the fuses, greased all the electrical connectors, occasionally shows an 02 code (fuel solenoid), but that should only apply if it cranks....any ideas? I'm tempted to rewire it with a couple of simple switches...why does a diesel have to be so complicated??

Don,t do that just go on and fix the problem. First thing you need to check is condition of battery,
sounds like a weak battery, then next look at the connections , the reason it is showing fuel
control solenoid fault is you do not have enough voltage to pull the fuel solenoid. I am betting you
will find low voltage is your problem.

I agree with jm, low battery or a bad connection.

Check it under load, turn on the ignition, lights, any accessory that will load the electrical system.

Start checking with a test light or volt meter. Start with the easy to get to stuff first, look for discoloration, melted insulation, corrosion on connections.

I had tried jumping it with no different results, load tested the battery, went to 11.2 like the display showed, checked all fuses, connections, etc. Greased them all. Today I decided to lift the boom with the forklift so I could get to the starter. Had the wife run the keyswitch and no power to the solenoid. Made a jumper for the solenoid, turned the key to on and touched the jumper to the battery and she fired right up. Shut if off, put original wire back on and she fires right up, ran thru 3 cycles no problems. Looks like a Gremlin in there somewhere, guess I will keep my jumper handy, or temped to splice a push button switch in-line and use it when it acts up....

Skidsteer no start again today (on a job, of course), after an hour of messing around with it I stuck my hand up around the starter and wiggled the heavy wire going from the starter body to the solenoid...fired up. Looks like it is a poor connection at that point. Can't see up in there, will have to try to get a wrench on it.

Good follow-up. Thank you.
