I have a 1954 Case 500 Diesel. She's locked up solid. I haven't finished investigating yet but either way it going to need a rebuild. I apologize to the purists but...has anyone looked into doing a cummins 12 V swap. I know it'll be some work but if the cummins is cheap enough...it'll still be cheaper than rebuilding the 377 if I could even find parts to rebuild it.

The 500 case has a wet clutch so that presents a challenge. You would have to probly convert to a dry clutch setup. Your injection pump could be setup so to be on the safe side I would pull that pump and try to turn it by hand if you force it you run the risk of damaging the pump beyond repair as parts are no longer available.

Give our CASE parts supplier John Saeli a call about parts availability. Three-one-
five 585 nine-eight-26. There were kits to install Detroit's, but never heard of any
for a Cummings, but I would not rule out the posability. It's your tractor so you are
only limited by your own capabilities and finances. A 12V Cummins would be quite the
show stopper if well done.

so an old friend of mine had a 500 case with an international 549 V8 gasser not sure how He did the clutch -- 5 bottom
plow no problem any where -- 6 gallons an hour --speed control was from an older combine engine - He worked that thing to
its death -- the gears and drive chains were shot - and so were the tires -- He scraped what was left --Roy
