from under a David brown 990 back in the 70?s.he
didn?t make it.hell of a sight to find a tractor in a
pond with all four wheels in the air

I hope that is a pond!!! LOL We used to get a couple of tractors each year that would roll back into the lagoon when pumping or stirring it. You talk about some thing that stinks for years!!!

Neighbor has a JD 4440 they bought new. The very first fall they had it on a manure pump and the bank gave way under the tractor. He could not get in it fast enough to stop it but did think to grab the fuel shut off on the injection pump. So at least it was not running when it went in the lagoon. When it stopped all you could see was the top foot or so of the cab. They pumped/hauled all night to get the lagoon low enough they could get a cable on the JD 4440. They pulled it out really slow and the local fire department hosed the outside off as they got it out. Opened the cab doors and flushed the inside out too. Man did that tractor stink. His insurance company would not total it. They wanted it repaired. Since it was pretty new we were able to get a complete new cab and wiring harness. They never really had any trouble with it after we repaired it. It still stinks on a humid day.
