Wire gauge to the coil

Is 14 gauge wire heavy enough to go from the switch to the coil on a 6 volt system. I need to run a new piece and 14 gauge is all I have. Looks like it has 14 gauge on it now but I think it was added by the previous owner.

Agree...even 16 would be enough. You should see how lite of gauge wires are in car harnesses now. Lots of 28ga. stuff. Looks like telephone wires.

Since a typical coil current is somewhere round 4 amps and its a fairly short piece of wire SURE 14 GAUGE IS FINE.
