Case International 8370 Mower Conditioner

Yesterday I picked this Haybine, to try out this week, to cut my hay with. It didn?t come with a manual, and from What I understand, it requires Hydraulic Oil.
This Morning, I briefly looked it over, and noticed up top of the Boom, there was a Pipe Fitting, with a Pipe Cap, close to the Pivot Point, of the Hitch Assembly.
What I?m wondering, is how does one determine, the Oil Levels, in this Machine?

No, I just briefly looked at it, and noticed the Pipe Fitting, and
Cap. I?ll be pulling the Cap, a little later, today.
How do you go about, changing the Oils, in this Haybine? Do
you remove the Big Hose,, at the bottom of the Hitch? I didn?t
see a Drain Plug, to drain the Oil.
I also take it, you use Hydraulic Oil, for Hydraulic Motors, not
Trans Hydraulic Oil, Correct, and how much oil, does it hold?
Thanks again, for the Advice, on this Haybine!

I?ve ordered a Manual, for this Haybine, this morning. It won?t be here, until next week. I?m going to try and use this Haybine tomorrow, I?m asking if anyone here, can help me determine, how much Hydraulic Oil, this Haybine requires. Thanks in advance. Bruce.

Used one of these for many years. Pretty good machine. Mine had a hyd filter . Always used Universal hyd gear oil. There are planatery gears in pump drive. Lubricate your pto shaft so pump spline won't wear and -or get stuck on. We had more problems with swing cylinder than hydro drive. Keep sickle drive tight and roll tension lubricated and adjusted. Plugging can bend reel bars. Keep flotation springs tight enough you can lift by hand.

This one has a Hydraulic Filter on it, as well. I found the Fill
Plug, I guess you call it, but haven?t checked it out, to see if it
has a Dip Stick on it. Tomorrow Mornings Job, grease and try
it out, cutting Hay.

the 8370IH is identical to the 1160 Hesston, actually was made by Hesston for CIH.
the only hyd oil drain that I know of, is the supply hose to the pump at the front. it will hold 25-30 gallons of oil, the tongue is the reservoir. the fill and check oil level is the pipe cap on top of the tongue.

Sorry, Bruce, I wasn't trying to bust your chops. It didn't occur to me that hay mowing was still going on in October, somewhere. Here in western Washington, second cutting comes off in August, and that's about it. The rains start in September, and not enough heat to get hay dry even if you get a stretch of good weather.
