I can't quite figure out what I'm looking at. I think I see a shock absorber on middle gang and foot rests in front that one shovel. Now you have my curiosity up. Please call him and report back to me.

That does not look like any potato plow I have ever seen. Looks like it is cobbled together or is missing a lot of parts.

Here is a true potato digger. See how it has a chain/screen to sift the dirt out.

Then this is what we always called a potato plow. I have made several of these. Just take a 3 pt. single shank farrow blade and weld rods on the back/sides to lift the potatoes out while allowing the dirt to fall through. The one in the pictures is a horse drawn one. I could not find a picture of a 3pt. one but there are several companies that make them. Usually run about $350

Hey Grandpa-- looks like the front blade clears some of the junk away and the shoes in the back lift the spuds up and I see a sprocket on the one side so it must have a shaker of some sort -- Looks like it should work! Roy

It looks more like a hiller or row maker than a digger to me. Either way it appears to have been a planter in its former life. You can see where it used to be chain driven off of the left wheel for something and it has a tank/hopper stand minus the tank/hopper. Home made with potential yes, worth a $100 questionable.

There has to be a way to lift the potatoes from the ground, I don't see that in the picture. Also the rows are not always clean when time to dig. This thing appears to make a mess in your garden or field.
