I think it's the other end that opens not the end we are seeing. If you look close you can see the rivets the door pivots on. As for the
flag it should be on the other side if the door is where I think it is.

The mailman already knows who you are. It's the stranger looking for your house who might get confused.

And I think that TJV is correct in that the door is on the other end and the flag is on the back side.

nice but if it survives winter would be lucky in my area, flying snow usually gets 10 12 every year, other half runs mail route makes for some interesting road times
