We finished the course on workplace safety and electrical code this morning at trade school. Everyone in the class passed. Everything in the code book is very wordy legal type terminology ,which took some getting used to but we all got through it.

i have a code handbook that has explanations for every code--I think it was written by McFarland?

Our instructor wants us to learn the hard way, he said the only 2 things were allowed to take into more major exams is a pen and a pencil. Code books and calculators are provided to us.

you are on the way now, same as when i wrote them..no private code books allowed, and you found by now
that your book just seems to open right where you want to look for info...
One major question and beat into my class was to know and understand the meaning of the word " SHALL" in respect
to its use in the code .
So i to "shall" pass on congrats and a well done slim.

If i can pass amature radio test missing 1 question, your passing that code test.job well done to ya

In my era taking the contractors test every body had marked up code books from prep class usually given by an electrical inspector. The state got hip to that when they saw all the markings in highlighter and pencil. After that year they provided the code books for the test. No more personal code books allowed.

Haha that?s right, shall, shall not and except are very important words in the book. There?s one rule, 2-112 that says,?The mechanical arrangement and execution of the work in connection with any electrical installation shall be acceptable.? That basically gives the inspector a way to fail any installation they choose no matter how well based on the attitude of the electrician that given day. The instructor said the instructor is always right and they hold your livelihood in their hands so we better respect that when dealing with them.

Thank you! We had a smaller code test a week ago ,I was able to get 100 on it,the one yesterday was twice as long and I squeaked out a 95, I got 98 for the whole course counting a few safety and code assignments.
