A beauty!
Didn't this tractor have continuously variable speed by moving the friction wheels relative to each other?

Hi Hendrik you are right on the friction drive. Two friends of mine own one of these tractors and on close inspection the engine mooves backwards and forwards on two slide rails to vary the speed of the tractor. MJ

Early IHC were a friction drive set up as well. Basically a hit and miss engine (don?t recall the hp.) set on a frame dream bing the bull gear through friction wheels.
Avery also had the engine on a sliding frame, but is gear driven. (Again I don?t recall the details of the clutching through the gears)

Can anyone identify the model of the Minneapolis behind the Rock Island?
